Most bird owners know that your bird should be fed a pelleted diet, given a small portion of human quality seed mix, and of course fruits and vegetables of color which will provide your companion with the vitamins A, B12, Vitamin E, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin and others. We are rightly taught to feed the birds from an assortment of colorful fruits. So what's the big deal? Many of us don't know that much of our produce (out of season) is imported from South American countries who use pesticides that have been banned from use in the United States. Washing your produce does not mean that these pesticides are not already absorbed into the meat of the fruit or stems and leaves of the vegetables.
